Ubuntu and the Windows bootloader

I upgraded Ubuntu today. Everything went fine, except that GRUB2 somehow overwrote my bootloader, preventing Windows 7 from being able to load. After many frustrating hours of Googling and testing, I finally figured it out. The solution is to boot from the Windows reinstall disk, and instead of reinstalling anything, get to a command line and run bootrec /FixBoot Probably not worth a blog entry, but I haven’t updated in a long time and I get an itchy little feeling that it will come up again someday.
